IRON HEART Serious Strength OUTDOOR BOOTCAMP is going to start on Monday April 28th at 6 pm at Kin Beach Park ::::::

Everyone is welcome, my programming is designed to be just right for everyBODY, from first time-er’s to first time in a long time-er’s to seasoned athletes, you all will get an effective, enjoyable and challenging workout!

Come try it out!  You will LOVE it 🙂  Everything you like about my indoor Serious Strength Bootcamp PLUS gorgeous views, lapping waves, sunshine and blissful breezes 😀  Last year was SO wonderful and I’m really looking forward to getting out there again!

Wahooooeey! Our fav time of the year is almost upon us!

Join Iron Heart Personal Training and get fit this spring and summer in the great outdoors! Vernon is SO CRAZY beautiful that it’s a shame to not be out there enjoying the parks, lakes and beaches during this time of the year, so we are going to do just that!

Starting the last week of April, we’re taking our awesome indoor bootcamp, Serious Strength and the amazing Vernon Kettlebell Club Kettlebell Training class OUTSIDE!

Hey everybody!

WOWEE is this Spring whipping along, the air is getting warmer, the ground is getting dry, the kettlebell-er’s are getting restless, lol!  You betcha, it’s almost that time again,

OUTDOOR IRON HEART BOOTCAMP time!!

Starting towards the end of April, I’ll be adding one evening outdoor session to the schedule, exact times/dates TBA soon 🙂  If you are interested in joining us, wouldn’t hurt to let me know asap, as I *may* have to make this one a pre-registered participants only to keep the size of the group compact 🙂  I will also be looking at adding in an a.m. session as well if it’s necessary!

Great for all levels and abilities, based out of Fitness Maxx, you don’t have to be a member to join in, it’s open to everyone.  Strength & conditioning, kettlebells, trx, ropes, oly lifts, we do it all, this is an awesome all-round session that is certain to push your limits and get you seriously strong and fit!  Punch passes available or drop in.

SATURDAY 10:30AM for Vernon Kettlebell Club

An *all kettlebell* class!!!  This has been so much fun putting together!  Safe for all levels and abilities, join in anytime as we’re still working on the basics and learning new skills every week.  Curious just WHY the kettlebell is so popular these days?  Come see for yourself!  How else can you get your cardio, strength training, flexibility, mobility, balance & endurance all in one short amount of time?  You got it, kettlebell training!   Punch passes available or drop in.  You can use the same punch pass for both Serious Strength AND Vernon Kettlebell Club.

MONDAY/WEDNESDAY/FRIDAY 12:10 for Strong Fit Fast

Get strong, fit AND fast, in a hurry!  This 45 min class is a mix of conditioning, strength training, core work & mobility stretches – it doesn’t have to take long if you’re doing it right, lol!!  This is an on-schedule Fitness Maxx group fitness class, free for members, non-members are always welcome as well, get yourself a Fitness Maxx punch pass or pay the drop in.

SATURDAY 9AM for Power Up

This basic barbell class will take your Power class experience to a new level.  It’s weightlifting with a  lot of sweat 😉 A LOT.  Come see for yourself!  In one hour, get your strength training AND cardio done for the day!

Come to the beginner class on March 15th, try it out, see for yourself why Kettlebell training is taking off in popularity like crazy – there is very GOOD reason for it!!!  If you like it, join us every week!  Vernon Kettlebbell Club happens every Saturday at 10:30, and under the careful guidance and instruction of an experienced and certified Agatsu Kettlebell Instructor, expect lots of kettlebell swinging, squatting, pressing, snatching, windmills, Turkish get-up’s and so much more!!!  We’ll do it all in a very safe and progressive way that works for first timers or for those working towards competing in Kettlebell Sport competition and everyone else in between 🙂

What can I expect?:  Quality, personalized instruction in a friendly and fun group setting, together we’ll learn and work towards your specific goals and have a great time doing it 🙂   In the one hour session we’ll go through joint mobility drills and a good dynamic warm up, then get into the skill of the week and the workout and then finish off with a relaxing and effective stretch.  You’ll get your cardio, strength, core work & mobility/stretch and leave feeling accomplished and energized and excited to enjoy the rest of the weekend ahead!

Hard to believe, but this winter won’t last forever, and it will get very hot, and we will want to trade our jeans and boots and sweaters for shorts, tanks and yes, bathing suits – but are you like me and have lived a life where you both long for AND kind of dread summer??  For so many years, I thought, this summer will be different, I’ll get really fit and be ready and I never, ever did it.  I didn’t set a goal, I didn’t make a plan, I didn’t follow through and I was left mildly disappointed and HOT.   I wore capri’s and sweltered.  I have friends who wore big tee’s and long sleeve shirts in 40 degree weather and we told ourselves, nah, we’re fine.  Not too hot at all.  :/  (Not at all true)…

Well, enough is enough!  This is it for me – I’m 34 years old and I will NOT go another summer not wearing shorts with total confidence.  I will be comfortable in tank top.  And I forsureforsureforsure will be excited to chase my boys around at the beach in a bathing suit – life is too damn short to be uncomfortable in your own skin!!!!   We need to take advantage of this amazing body we’ve been given and enjoy it, to make the most of it and not have any regrets.   A funny thing happens when you are in a good place with your body.  You completely stop thinking about it.  It’s freeing.  Imagine getting dressed without having to try 95 different things on.  Going and doing all sorts of things and not thinking once how you look doing it.  Figuring out that sweet spot of just enough exercise and as much food as possible to maintain your favorite weight, then putting it on autopilot and never having to think about it any longer.  There is a massive part of our brains that are filled with unnecessary cluttering negative thoughts that can be cleared out, ready for more important thoughts and feelings.  Inspired ideas.  Content feelings.  Happiness.  And no, not because you’ve hit xyz pounds.  Because you set a goal for yourself that you value the importance of, and you follow through and get “there”.

If you know me, you know I’m always putting STRENGTH first as my goal and the goal of my clients BUT there is a time and place to focus on yes, shedding some weight and paying close attention to fat loss too.  If you’re already on a good strength building program that is peppered with some intense metabolic conditioning, great, that is awesome, KEEP GOING but if you want to see some dramatic changes to your physique by the time summer hits, and take things up a notch…

you are going to have to support your exercise efforts by tightening up your nutrition.

This does not mean eating a 1000 cal diet day in day out and O.D.-ing on egg whites or going zero carbs – we have three months.  We can do this in a reasonable, sustainable way – but we have to start NOW.

Don’t make the classic mistake of killing it in the gym but then letting yourself down the other 23 hours of the day by not supporting yourself nutritionally!!!

So make a plan.  Today.  It’s February 25th.  Summer WILL be upon us in 3 months time.  That is going to be here in a heartbeat, so go go go!!  If you’re looking for a call to action, THIS is it!!!

Join a bootcamp, see a trainer, get a program created specifically for you or do some research on your own, round up some gym or exercise partners that won’t let you down and get going!  If you’re injured, your trainer can work around that.  If you can only work out at home, you can work around that.   If you don’t have time, you can make it.  If you’re unmotivated, unsure or don’t have any idea where to start, seek out some help!!  There are no excuses that outweigh your longing for a different life – if you want it, you can do it.  And if you look at this in the big picture – you need to do this.  Don’t waste one more minute of your life being unhappy with where you are.  You are totally capable of changing things around and it can happen in a very short amount of time if you are committed and disciplined to your plan.  You just have to start!
